The next Nashville Berklee Jam will be held on Tuesday, May 1 and will feature guest speaker, musician, and author of “The Nashville Number System”, Chas Williams. His talk will be an interactive class on the Nashville Number System, and will give alums a chance to learn and further explore this method from one of Nashville’s top experts on this subject. He will also be participating in the jam immediately after his talk.

About Chas Williams:

Musician and author, Chas Williams is a touring/session guitarist and dobro player who arrived in Nashville in 1979 after attending the Berklee College of Music. Here in Music City, he quickly learned the Nashville Number System while working in writer’s nights bands and doing demo sessions. At a typical writer’s night, he would play behind 20 to 30 songwriters, performing their original songs with no rehearsal, just number charts. Chas and his bandmates wrote most of these charts and received great ear training taking dictation from thousands of song demos, experiences that eventually lead him to author “The Nashville Number System”. Some of his other credits include work with Wynonna Judd, David Gates of Bread, Nanci Griffith, and many others.
