SUMMARY:Kate Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Nashville Berklee Jam \nMonday\, August 25\, 7 PM\n \nwith special guest\n \nSongwriter and CEO of Song Placement International \n Kate Taylor\n \nat The Rutledge \nTopic: Music for TV and Film\n \nJoin us on Monday\, August 25 at 7 p.m. at the Rutledge for our next Berklee Alumni event featuring songwriter\, producer and CEO of “Song Placement International”\, Kate Taylor. Kate will share her insights about music for TV and film focusing on the importance of songwriting and production\, as well as different ways that independent songwriters and artists can get their songs placed. Her talk will allow plenty of time for questions and answers and will conclude with a brief performance of some of her original material. \nThis event is open to the public and free to Berklee alums with a $5 cover for non-alumni (each alum can have one guest get in for free). After Kate’s portion of the event there will be an open jam which will be first come first serve (all styles welcome\, if you would like to play original songs please bring number or chord charts). \nAbout Kate: \nKate was invited to join SESAC as an affiliate writer/publisher shortly after moving to Nashville. Her first Nashville solo artist recording “Lost Your Mind” allowed her to work with astounding musicians like Paul Sidoti (Taylor Swift’s guitar player) and talented writers like Shaunna Bolton (Sarah Darling\, 3LW\, Jo Dee Messina). After releasing this pop rock album she landed 6 of the 9 songs on TV shows (CBS\, Teen Nick) and satellite radio. She continues writing and producing songs in the industry for many talented artists. \nWhat started as a working relationship of her own song catalog with one CBS Music Supervisor in L.A.\, has now grown into respected relationships with dozens of Music Supervisors for hundreds of songwriter/artists. After placing songs on ABC\, NBC\, CBS\, Nickelodeon and more\, Kate is ecstatic to expand song catalogs and song placements with the help of Adam Stengel and Howard Rosen teaming up with her and her vision. \nThe event is hosted by Eric Normand ‘89 and you can e-mail him if you have any questions. \nThe Rutledge\,  410 4the Avenue South\, Nashville TN 37201

SUMMARY:Nashville Berklee Jam - An introduction to “The Nashville Number System” with Chas Williams
DESCRIPTION:The next Nashville Berklee Jam will be held on Tuesday\, May 1 and will feature guest speaker\, musician\, and author of “The Nashville Number System”\, Chas Williams. His talk will be an interactive class on the Nashville Number System\, and will give alums a chance to learn and further explore this method from one of Nashville’s top experts on this subject. He will also be participating in the jam immediately after his talk. \nAbout Chas Williams: \nMusician and author\, Chas Williams is a touring/session guitarist and dobro player who arrived in Nashville in 1979 after attending the Berklee College of Music. Here in Music City\, he quickly learned the Nashville Number System while working in writer’s nights bands and doing demo sessions. At a typical writer’s night\, he would play behind 20 to 30 songwriters\, performing their original songs with no rehearsal\, just number charts. Chas and his bandmates wrote most of these charts and received great ear training taking dictation from thousands of song demos\, experiences that eventually lead him to author “The Nashville Number System”. Some of his other credits include work with Wynonna Judd\, David Gates of Bread\, Nanci Griffith\, and many others.
