Topic: Music for TV and Film
Join us on Monday, August 25 at 7 p.m. at the Rutledge for our next Berklee Alumni event featuring songwriter, producer and CEO of “Song Placement International”, Kate Taylor. Kate will share her insights about music for TV and film focusing on the importance of songwriting and production, as well as different ways that independent songwriters and artists can get their songs placed. Her talk will allow plenty of time for questions and answers and will conclude with a brief performance of some of her original material.
This event is open to the public and free to Berklee alums with a $5 cover for non-alumni (each alum can have one guest get in for free). After Kate’s portion of the event there will be an open jam which will be first come first serve (all styles welcome, if you would like to play original songs please bring number or chord charts).
About Kate:
Kate was invited to join SESAC as an affiliate writer/publisher shortly after moving to Nashville. Her first Nashville solo artist recording “Lost Your Mind” allowed her to work with astounding musicians like Paul Sidoti (Taylor Swift’s guitar player) and talented writers like Shaunna Bolton (Sarah Darling, 3LW, Jo Dee Messina). After releasing this pop rock album she landed 6 of the 9 songs on TV shows (CBS, Teen Nick) and satellite radio. She continues writing and producing songs in the industry for many talented artists.
What started as a working relationship of her own song catalog with one CBS Music Supervisor in L.A., has now grown into respected relationships with dozens of Music Supervisors for hundreds of songwriter/artists. After placing songs on ABC, NBC, CBS, Nickelodeon and more, Kate is ecstatic to expand song catalogs and song placements with the help of Adam Stengel and Howard Rosen teaming up with her and her vision.
The event is hosted by Eric Normand ‘89 and you can e-mail him if you have any questions.
